This module highlights the potential of small-scale redevelopment projects to drive significant community change. It examines case studies where limited budgets, community goals, and sustainability practices align to create impactful developments. The module also covers public and private funding strategies, crafting a compelling project pitch, and conducting follow-up assessments.

Small but Mighty Development | Presented by Jim Heid
A webinar exploring how small redevelopment projects can achieve big results, from budget management to sustainability and community impact. Small redevelopment projects have a lot of upside, and can catalyze change in a community when done right. Review case studies of small redevelopment to meet a tough budget, achieve community goals, provide energy and environmental sustainability, and enable locals to upsize their impact.
ACTIVITIES | The following activities are interactive tools that will walk participants through their own community, partners, and opportunities to build a stronger understanding ot the possibilities for moving the project forward.
- Final Project Pitch Sheet. A completed project pitch sheet that summarizes key elements of a successful small-scale development.
- Checklist for Completing Program. A step-by-step checklist to complete the program and have the tools and processes.
- Final Feasibility Tetrad Activity Review + Prioritize. Conduct a final review of your project’s feasibility using the Tetrad model, comparing your site to similar developments and your community vision.
- End of Program Community Capacity Assessment. Complete a final assessment to measure your community’s capacity to support and sustain small-scale redevelopment initiatives.
