Colorado's restaurants, retailers, and service providers face an uncertain commercial environment for the foreseeable future, as social-distancing regulations limit the level of commercial transactions that can (or should) occur indoors, and many patrons avoid in-person contact entirely. Chief among those impacted are downtown businesses with little room to expand outdoors on their own lot. Leniency and technical assistance by local and state government can help brick and mortar businesses utilize the adjacent public realm (and private parking lots) as relief valves to sustain revenues through a time of crisis.
