RFP - Urban Design Services
Application Deadline: August 29, 2023The Englewood Downtown Development Authority (EDDA) is seeking urban design services to help energize and create a cohesive, authentic Public Realm Action Plan for the South Broadway corridor in its Downtown District. 1. Overview The EDDA was formed in 2021 to implement the Englewood Downtown Plan, a long-term vision and goals for the city’s central business district. The EDDA is funded through property and sales tax increment to fund public improvements and amenities throughout the Downtown district. A major priority is to leverage and strengthen the traditional main street pedestrian experience and authentic sense of place in the public realm along South Broadway, in alleys and gateways, between Old Hampden and Eastman Avenue.
The Public Realm Action Plan is to include 1) conceptual streetscape and alley improvements designs and preliminary cost estimate; 2) identification of near-term pilot projects to be deployed within a year to generate momentum; 3) guidelines for outdoor patios and 4) design guidelines to inform exterior and ground floor design of new and renovated buildings, and business-related contributions to the public realm. For budget purposes, the project will be broken up into Phases I and II. Respondents are asked to propose based on both phases, identifying each separately, and the initial contract will be awarded for Phase I work only.
