Katherine Correll, Executive Director
Katherine Correll has experience spanning the fields of community outreach to advance downtown and community development, not-for-profit administration, project development and management, local government planning, marketing, financial and economic development services, and education. Katherine joined Downtown Colorado, Inc. as the Director of Communications and Operations in 2006; in 2007 she became the Executive Director.
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Katherine has worked with development initiatives in Denver, New York, Chicago, and the Former Soviet Union. Her focus on strategic planning and organizational development and management includes building viable and sustainable private, public, and non-for-profit institutions and programs. Prior to her current position, Katherine served as the American Councils for International Education Country Director for the Republic of Moldova, where she managed the national American Councils' portfolio focusing on building civil society initiatives, education, and public administration reforms. She was also responsible for management and growth of the American Language Center, language and professional training school. Katherine received her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University and her Bachelor's Degree in Politics with a Minor in Urban Studies from New York University.
Heather Garbo, Marketing & Events Manager
Heather Garbo has worked in communications since 1996 with experience spanning marketing, public relations, journalism, editing, grant writing, and website content development. She completed her bachelor’s degree in English at Michigan State University in 1998. In 2008, she began graduate school to pursue a career in community development and is currently completing an M.A. in Sociology at the University of Colorado at Denver.
Heather joined Downtown Colorado, Inc. in January 2009 as the Marketing & Events Manager. Born and raised in Michigan, she has been happy to call downtown Denver home for more than a decade.
Genevieve Zeman, Preservation & Design Specialist
Genevieve Zeman was an interior design intern at Department of Local Affairs for two years helping local governments set goals, make decisions, and create conceptual designs to meet the needs and vision of the local communities. She received her bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture from Colorado State University in May of 2009. She is very passionate about sustainable design practices and obtained LEED Accreditation in June of last year.
Genevieve joined Downtown Colorado, Inc. in March of 2010 as the Historic Preservation Assistant. She has lived in Colorado for about 10 years, and hopes to continue to work in commercial design assisting the wonderful communities throughout Colorado.
Isabel Waldman, OSM/VISTA
Waldman is a graduate of the University of Oregon where she received a
bachelor’s degree in International Studies with a concentration in
Environmental Studies and a minor in Planning, Public Policy, and
Management. Her field of study gave her the opportunity to study
community development and resource planning in Chile and Bolivia. While
in Chile she completed a thesis focusing on the environmental and social
impacts of the forest industry on indigenous Mapuche communities.
grew up in Colorado and is currently serving as the OSM/VISTA for
Downtown Colorado, Inc., which is part of the Western Hardrock Watershed
Team. During her year as an OSM/VISTA, Isabel its excited to work on
technical assistance and help strengthen and create healthy Colorado communities.
